- My installation, A Walk Forward, was inspired by the magnificent totem poles all over British Columbia. The long fabric photograph is my own ‘totem,’ a dead tree in my front yeard, painted with family memories and fundamental values. I created these modern totems to exist as a group in my gardens near their inspired tree. In the winter they exist in the house. They reflect my artistic vision and goal of design with humor. Each of the ten totems has a water or sun theme and are named after Native American, Aboriginal or First Nation gods, spirits and goddesses.
